Started playing Mercenaries of Astonia right at the end. Got hooked and looked for alternative versions once the code went public (thanks Daniel). I stuck with Mercadia. I was the first Seyan'Du to reach Warlord. Climbed the ladder to become an imp. Grinding back then was a pain so it was cool to throw huge xp events. I was nicknamed riffraff to some.
Danny and Ratheart eventually wanted their own version which became Aranock. Seeying the game go 3D graphics was a big banger and the other 3-4 MoA versions (including Mercadia) went very silent as people migrated. Thanks ratty and danny
It's been about 18 years or so but this game still has one of the best RPG mechanics today which puts a lot of shame to AAA gaming.
Looking to play again and make my Warrior, see you all in the game!
