New Area: Memory Lane

Every Monday we came together. Storytime!
We all met at the old man’s house. We sat down in a circle, facing the old man.
There was never much difference. He was slowly moving in his rocking chair. Blanket on his legs.
Filling his pipe with tobacco. And he never started talking without first lighting his pipe.

Some of us were thinking his old hands were the reason that filling his pipe took so long. I think he took that time to decide what story he was going to tell. So often I saw his eyes sparkle right before finishing his pipe.

And when he started talking, we all were as silent as we could be. It was not just his white hair and impressive beard, the grooves in his face that underlined his lifelong experience, or his warm, deep voice. It was the excitement in his voice, emphasized by his waving hands and – well – his fantastic adventures!

“I remember a century ago” – he once started. “A century ago?” – one of use replied. “Well, no” – he smiled. “It was at the end of last century”.
There were always monsters to be defeated. Riddles to solve. Hidden passages through walls. Or magical things moving you from one place to another. No story was alike.

In the end we started to notice that the old man had grown very old. He started to mix up stories that we heard before. Combine them into a new story. Adding more peril than the last time.
That’s life. Sigh.

It has been a few months now since he has past away. It was so weird and silent that very next Monday. We all met, but didn’t know what to say. We missed the stories, and the old man. We visited his grave and listened. But no sound came from that grave tomb.

The second Monday that we met, one of us had a great idea. The old man was pushing red and purple flowers, but was not forgotten at all. We wanted to make a statement, to celebrate his life and his great stories. So we started building and building.

Now the time has come to invite all of you to visit the result. Dedicated to the old man we have recreated his stories in Memory Lane. We hope you will enjoy it as much as we enjoyed the stories of the old man.

There was always a sentence that appeared in every story that the old man told. After the first two words we would always finish the sentence together. We have to share those words with you: “Always use your eyes, your wits and your skills, and all will be alright!”.

Memory Lane will be opened up at Wednesday November 4th at noon CET.
You can find Memory Lane at Memorial Park on the east side.

Downside is that you need to hand in your ankh, cave and prison amulet to get it. So for some it means you want to do a last minute run to get those? If you don't have the items yet, no worries. You can get them later. The exchange doesn't have to happen straight after your run. And first you need to get your admittance sorted out...
