Alt refresh

Post by Marky »

I just had the joy of watching someone refresh his alts. About 30 of them.
Quite a few were PFC, so he will be back soon to do the same.
Annoying for him, and I prefer exp spam :-P

How about /altrefresh or something like that? Based on the same list as /ipplayer.
It refreshes the alts the same way as it is done by logging them in.
From 1 char, for all alts.

Most abandoned chars will still be deleted. Maybe a few unwanted/not needed alts stay alive this way.
/altdelete <name> might be an addition to solve that, but I doubt it is needed.

Good idea i think a lot of people might use that since most of us play on and off

The Law of Unintended Consequences

Just assume that there was an /altrefresh command.
The only way it could work would be to set the date last logged in to now, because the last login date is the field checked by the auto delete.

The website who page also uses this field to say who is logged in and who logged out in the last two hours.

If you used /altrefresh then instantly all your alts would appear on the who webpage.
Given that the time would be identical then all your alts would be known.

Some people do not care whilst others value a bit of privacy for whatever reason they choose.

If the website's who screen is the issue, would setting the alts' "last login" field to a little more than 2 hours do the trick? They would still remain relatively fresh and wouldn't in theory pop up in the website. Of course, there might be some other use case for this login data that I could be forgetting.

Players CAN use that command, but can also do the same as they were doing before.
Right now I often see loads of alts visiting one after the other, just to refresh. So in game people will see the alt list. And it will show on /who.
I doubt those people would mind.
Some people even apologize right before they start refreshing their alts.

And if you do mind that people know your alts, then you can do whatever you did. Nothing changes for them.

Sounds like an option. Add a check for last login. If that's between now and 2 hours ago, then don't change it. That means normal login data doesn't get changed.
